Maidstone Roller Dance Club was formed in 1969 and is one of the largest Artistic Roller Dance clubs in England.
Our club is known for its friendly atmosphere with a cross section of members of all ages and skills from beginners to those competing at the highest levels in the domestic arena and for Team GB in the European and World Championships.
Our governing body is FARS, the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating. The objective of the Federation is the promotion and control of Artistic Roller Skating. They organise and set the standards that all clubs across the country work to and are responsible for skating tests, training days, competitions and championships in this country, and in supporting the British competitors in international skating circuit.
The club is run by volunteers who are made up of a committee and a small group of highly dedicated and experienced coaches and trainers. All our team undergo Child Protection training and are DBS checked where required. Every session is covered by at least one qualified first aider and the club is fully insured through a specialist sports insurance policy.
Our Coaching Team
Rachel Yildiz is a gold level skater, and took over the role of head coach in 2004 after she retired from competitive solo dance. She has competed across Europe and the USE as part of the GB Precision Team choreographing the team's programs from 2004 onwards. Her speciality is coaching solo dance and has taught many of our skaters to an international level, having members from our club compete at Cup of Europe, Europeans and World Championships in solo dance.
Ann Odhams is an inter-gold level skater and was also part of the GB Precision Team competing in four World Championships, and one Europeans. Ann has completed her Basic Skills coaching course back in 2012. Ann runs our Saturday club session an is involved in choreographing many of the skater's routines. Ann has also had the opportunity to accompany our skaters to European and World Championships for solo dance.
Vicky Kemp is the newest addition to the coaching team. Vicky is also an inter-gold level dancer and inter-silver free skater. Vicky has had a very successful skating career, skating for Team GB during 2000 - 2011 in free and dance. She was the first British skater to compete at the first solo dance Word Championships in 2007, and had been British free skating champion in 2004, and won both free and dance in 2006.
